I have noticed online, that many men quote "gorean law" saying they have the "absolute right" to control their FC as they please. Is there a quote on this subject, or is it another widespread cyber-ism?

It depends on the Gorean and the contract that is made. I assume they are thinking about 'Blood Brothers'.

There are others who feel differently about Free Companionship. "Some Goreans think of the Free Companionship as being a form of contract slavery." (Blood Brothers of Gor, p.246)

But again this is a narrow veiw that is taken and if You have a read of the 'Free Companion' section You will see that the contract is made by both parties and depends on the contract that is made.

So in a short answer BY LAW, no a Man does not have absolute power to control an FC if not in the contract and collaring a FW most of the time is a crime on Gor and if that Man is caught He could be sentenced to slavery Himslef.

Now....as I am the Law here at Hulneth...well...there You go.

On the other side of the coin I would not expect a FW to argue with Her Mate in public, what goes on in the cabin when the air goes blue and for some reason a FM is sleeping in the hall one night, well that happens -smiles- just like any other Partnership.

Here are two important conventions dealing with enslavement and free women. They do not have the effect of law but honor often dictates these conventions will be followed. These conventions are part of the Gorean tradition and thus are accorded much respect.

The institution of capture is practiced by nearly every, if not every, city on Gor. If you capture women from another city, your own city will recognize the legality of that capture and your rightful possession of the new slave. Remember that those women must belong to another city. You cannot legally raid your own city to obtain women to be your slaves. The city you are raiding will defend its woman but they also understand that captures are a part of life.

If a man saves the life of a woman, convention states that he has the option to enslave her. In essence, the man has won the right to the woman's life by saving it. Though this is not a law, few people would refuse a man this right. Even a woman's own family would be likely to honor this convention. It would be considered to be the honorable course of action.
