thalarion oil wall sconces were burning away cheerfully so I could see what I was doing

since the sun was hanging low on the horizon ... glancing out the window I could see Olaf as

he made his way to the main hall for the eveningmeal as a soft smile found my lips ... I

knew he felt the pangs of arthritis as dampness creft his bones and reminded myself to bring

Martha some herbs for one of my teas to ease his discomfort

: says to ALL:.... there was a build up of steam on the window and that reminded me of the

small copper pot that was simmering on a small brazier behind me ... oh geezzz ...

quicksilver eyes widening in concern briefly as I turned around to check on it ... I was in

the process of seeping teslik for second wine and didn't want it to boil hard

: says to ALL:.... it needed a bit longer but that was cool since I still had a bit more to

do ... I'd already boiled an even dozen dark glass flasks... they were lined up neatly on a

drain rack waiting to be filled ... I took one of the bottles of kalana I'd traded a slave

for to the village ... of course I had to take a swig ... just to test the quality ...

smacking my lips in satisfaction and even trying one more sip for good measure to steady my

hands before pouring equel ammounts into each of the prepared vessels leaving enough room

for the still brewing extract

: says to steel{Witness}~tempered :.... mmmm ... yup !!! ... good wine ... finishing off the bottle with a loud slurp then setting it on the counter to be washed ... knowing the copper pot handle would burn my small hand, I used the hem of my longassed skirts to protect me as I picked it up and drained it through the rep cloth strainer into a thick glazed ceramic bowl ... the teslik leaves brewed slowly made a thick sweet dark green syrup that when added to the kalana produced what was commonly called breeding wine or second wine ... well h'lo Mine ... noticing you as the cold air arrived through the door

: says to ALL:.... rincing out the kettle in the wash basin at my work station I refilled it with clear water and set it back on the brazier to boil while I carefully poured the now cooled syrup into each of the 6 flasks ... there !!! ... a satisfied exclamation escaped since the small of my back had started to ache from being on my feet all afternoon ... the last thing I needed to do was stuff a cork into each which I did quickly ... wiping the belly of each green hued bottle I placed them up on a shelf with the exception of one ... that singled out bottle of breeding wine was for Nyah ... patting it gently while a grin tugged the corner of my lip

: says to ALL:.... the cold was here and with it came the usual assortment of issues on Hulneth ... I'd spent the late afternoon grinding mint leaves then pressing them through clean cloth to get the oils ... this was used in anything needing menthol ... chest congestion relief in a rub or in vapour steam ... I used it in many of the syrups too ... blended with paga and honey it cured and relieved and eased breathing ... I needed to grind the last of these fresh picked herbs then dry the rest for teas and soaks

: says to ALL:.... marigolds were a different matter ... those I pressed the oils out of the tuberous roots after skinning them ... the golden yellow leaves were then dried and used for dyes ... but the oil was precious ,the Savages had taught me in Yellow Knives where my mother had lived ... it was one of the few things that could reduce an infection that was almost gangrenous ... I then used a mortar and pestal to smash the bulp to pulp then squeesed it again ... they did a similar thing in Tor to get the oil from olives I was told ... the row of assorted size and type of contailners grew as I harvested the wealth
