STANCES
Joe McBain:
-He was 7' 2" and 350lbs of Torvaldian, He moved into the sands and drew a 3 foot long sword from the left hip scabbard. pulling the sword back clean as He lifted the right elbow and drew it back to allow the point of the sword to face directly towards you so His right hand was by His own right jaw...the left hand held the Torv shield of 36 inch wood plate with a boss metal center and light metal rim edge....it was pulled in close to the left flank and the outer left edge tucked back a little to give a slanting angle...His left foot forward to slim down His target area as the helm on His head was fastened tight and He looked at you past the Y slot...-

Akodo:
Moving into the pits, the typical Y slotted helm atop my head, offering up just my left side toward you the shield held in my left hand was such that it covered from my chin down to the top of my left knee, the shield being shod with a metal rim and a metal center boss, 30 inch round shield. My legs bending slightly for position while My right foot was back a step and turned for stability. My right hand reaching across to my left hip, pulling free the short sword that lay strapped there, 22 inch gladius, pulling it out and to my right, horizontal to the ground, at shoulder height, while my elbow was bent at a 90 degree, the tip of the blade facing you. The distance between us now to about 4 paces.......

Round 1
Joe McBain
Same stance as Me -chuckles- and moves in on Your left flank as I circle in to get to long sword distance as You go for the short sword....
I pushed forward the left shield to try and grip the outside edge of Your shield and push it over to Your right as I try to turn You a little and get Your own shield in the way of Your sword as I do that the right blade is slashing down and to My left on a low arc as I aim the inside of the blade for Your left forward leg at the mid shin level ...
Closing to your right.....longsword distance for you being 7'2" could be anything up to 6-7 feet....need to be a little more specific.
This works but the shield description is not terribly clear.

Akodo:
watching your approach turning to maintain a left facing stance with you I quickly twist my left wrist bringing the left rim(my pov) to tilt in toward my body while the upper rim tilted back and lowering. Taking my shield out of the path of your attempted shield hook. as the shield was lowering I saw the movement of your blade and continued the lowering of my shield by bending at the knee, my shield lowering well past my knee, my left wrist twisting sending the left rim to wrap around the outside of my left leg covering my shin therefore blocking your attempted at my left shin...
being slightly crouched to protect and your blade on the inside of mine, as I rise up bringing my shield up in the process, stepping forward with my right foot to close the distance between us to within a pace, twisting my upper torso to the left as my right held blade went into motion, my right wrist twisting as the blade came across my body to my left in an angle outward as I attempt to drive the blade deep into your right shoulder hoping to render your sword arm useless.
Clean.
This works.

Round 2
Joe McBain:
it was a cheeky little move and He liked that but He pivoted on the ball of His left foot to bring His right shoulder back and right foot around to about 40 degrees to turn His body as You come in and thrust at My right shoulder, thus pushing My right edge of the left shield over to take Your blade over the edge in a shunt and keep it from My shoulder and try and press it to the edge of Your own shield in the process. In close at a pace (3 feet) the length of My blade as it was low as this time and I wanted a quick action, I was already drawing My right elbow back to get the blade clear...
Hopes now to be more on Your left side and Your blade out in front and My shield out the full way in the shove and block and My right sword drawn back as I thrust the up in a sharp flick of the wrist and elbow to send the blade edge up and I hope at the underside of Your right elbow as You extend the arm out...going for a slight lean in with the right shoulder to get more blade over should You try and pull Your arm to Your right...
Clean
With the movement you just made you would be a little further to his right than before...not His left. I get what you are trying to do here, but the wording of it makes it somewhat confusing. The lean....where are you getting more blade over? And how is it over...you would be coming up from under with this strike given the prior position of the sword would you not? Unclear -1
( 9 )
Akodo:
Your motion was expected and as you shunted my attempted at your shoulder I let my right arm continue on to my left since my shield was still a bit low from the last move. watching your right arm once more, the position of my shield was such that twisting my left wrist, sending the top of the rim to tilt out toward you as it moved to the right, parrying your blade downward and off to my right your left avoiding your attempted to my right elbow...
the position of my sword was such that my right wrist thingying, sending the pummel of my sword angled out toward you, I raked my right arm back to my right as I attempt to hook the pummel on to the rim of your shield and take it to the right with my sword. as my sword moved to my right, my right arm extended, straightening as I attempt to drag the blade across yer throat slitting it before my right arm jerked the blade free.
The avoidance works....but the movement of the shield here would not work IMO....you would be all pretzel'ed up -1

Round 3
Joe McBain:
okay I think I get this and again a nice cheeky Move My own right blade had been moved down to My left already and I let You get the pommel on My shield for reason that will be shown later as I twist My right wrist to send the low left blade of Mine UP on the inside of My open shield to get the blade vertical and catch the outside of Your right blade before it gets at My neck and let steel meet steel as I twist My My right wrist down to try and cup over the top of Your blade and push Your blade down and to Your right leg...
trying to keep Your blade down being way bigger and stronger than You and I now see My left wide open shield have a big gap for what I wanted as I snap the shield edge back to My right trying to close the shield and get that metal rim to slam with as much 7'2 power I can at that right shoulder of Yours and try to take Your right arm out the game
This is ambitious, and I would expect nothing less from You, and would work somewhat....but by allowing Him to hook the shield initially means the strike is starting....I see this causing an initial cut to the side of your neck before you block it...just a nick.....also, in forcing His blade down, given the nature of the stroke I think the blade would catch you again on the torso...nothing major...just something you can get attention from Nyah with. -1
This works....

Akodo:
Your deft move was interesting and as you parried my blade down and to your left my right, I quickly pivoted on my left foot bringing my right foot back behind, taking my right shoulder out the path of your shield sweep allowing it to swish on by..
As your shield moves to your right, the pivot freeing my blade I swiftly arc my right held blade to my left in a steep upward angle attempting to bury the d**nd thing into your now hopefully exposed left side gut area from that large shield sweep. The thrust of the blade had a natural recoil that brought it back to my right some still pointing toward you.
This works
His shield did not move to His right....nor was it a sweep...it was a punch/thrust....The strike is clean.

Round 4
Joe McBain:
well f**k! I had opened far too much now than I had wanted to and could see the blade there with the corner of my eye, I had zero choice on this and snapped My left foot back to change the footing and bring the entire left side back as fast and hard as I could and snap back My left elbow to rip the shield back to My left at the same time as I get the outer left shield rim on the head of Your right blade and push out to parry from a near spleen tickle and will not be doing that again...
Okay My blade was pushing yours down and got free when You moved so is still on a down angle and My shield back in place as I drive off My right foot to bring Me back on to left foot leading and sweep the blade up under your right armpit as You recoil Your arm back to send the blade up past My left leg from the outside to Your armpit on Your right and coil the blade back over to My right side in a up down snapping flowing arc
This doesn't work for Me...no matter how fast You pulled back with the shield and twist you would not beat His blade back to block or deflect itHad you closed the door with your left shield....because as I see it His blade in inside your shield now, you could have defended this....ie. Seeing you shoulder move, knowing My left side was exposed I pulled My left arm back whilst pivotting on My right foot...angling the leading edge of the shield down and to My right...pressing into your arm and then sword to keep it well away from My gut and hopefully ppush it wide and low.....or something to that effect.
I see this blow landing and you bleeding lots. Fight is over.
Akodo:
since your blade was still low and coming for an upward attack to my right armpit, twisting my upper torso the right, fading my right shoulder way back since I had pivoted my right side back behind my left to avoid yer shield attempt, I pulled my shoulder out the path of your bladeā¦
with the twist of my upper torso, I brought my left held shield upward in a left to right arc, using the momentum of the twist, my left wrist twisting sending the face of the shield to angle off to the left at a 45, the leading rim tilted up whilst the trailing rim tilted down, I attempt to do a sweep taking the rim of my shield and driving it hard into yer right upper arm, the bicep /tricep area hoping to crush yer arm taking it out of commission and disarming you. My left held shield final position was slightly off to my left and a bit low
FINAL DEFENSE
Joe McBain:
seeing the shield come over to My right arm and having brought My left foot back to the lead to gain the cover from My left shield it did not take that much to be able to move My right arm further out to My right the natural move of the swing and bring My own shield over as I pivot on the ball of My back right foot to move My left shoulder forward and of course makes the shield come around to try and place the shields face to face and shove at Your shield as I was the bigger Man in this and had the leverage....
