says to - The Scarred - : -I was 7'2" and rather good looking with dashing blue eyes and a sporty looking stuble to My chin, as I stepped around the sands I noticed that at some stage I would have to do some figthting stuff..... I popped on My silver Y visor helm and tugged the lace under to be nice and tight and secure.....As I drew the long sword of 3' from My left hip in the scabbard to be held in My right hand......I walked over to the rack at the left side of the pit and chose a 28" round shield of plate wood design,...it was metal wrapped, meaning the edge was bound in a light steel strip...The center, of the shield, had a raised metal boss and I took this by the handle but NOT the strap in the My left hand.....at this stage I was sort of ready, I moved over to the centre of the sands and placed My left leg leading some at shoulder width apart, rather like a boxer, My knees slightly bent for balance and mobility.....I pulled up the shield, that was in My left hand, ...so that it covered as much as My left leading person as possible...a few inches away from My body and flat face directly towards Your good self.....the balde, that was in My right hand....was held by My right hip, so that the blade section rose from My right hip and pointed upward on a forward diagonal towards Your Own chest area...as I thought and I smiled- How about same as last time and would You be kind enough to go first? -I enquired of the GentleMan before Me-
7-2
Y helm
36 inch long in the right hand
smallish 28 inch round shield left hand handle only. interesting
no distance and always the gentleman..*L* nice to be killed by a gentleman rather than a brute.

- I moved into the sands, standing merely 6' tall and roughly 2 bucks on the poundage, producing the Y slot helm of My caste and placed it upon My head, I then reached up and over my left shoulder and unslung the 22" gorean shortsword into my right hand as the sheath fell easily to the stands, into My left hand from my left hip I drew the 18" canhepi, basically a tomahawk that had 8" of leather wrap around the handle where I would grip it just abit high so I had good balance, it had a small hand axed size head on one side of the top and was backed with a sharp pointed spike, I also had the black dagger of My caste sheathed on the front of My master's belt just to the right of 10", near the other 18" canhepi that was held in the leather loop on My right side, tethered to my hip so that it wouldn't sling itself around and move about to come to face you with the sword resting near My right hip point facing out towards you on a slight horizontal angle, the canhepi was held in front of Me by my left leading hip on a horizontal grip, the blade resting a few inches in front of My torso, I set the distance since you didn't at 3 paces, I was crouched with a slight left lead side a I spoke - "My next post begins aye?"
6-0, 200
22 inch short in the right hand
18 inch hawk in the left.. very interesting
10 inch black dagger on the belt, right side with one more hawk

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: - it was then that I snapped the distance and came closing in towards your left side on a slight circling motion to get at the side of your shield as -
-both of My arms began to swing in unison as My upper torso twisted towards my left, bringing the canhepi in a brutal backhand swing in a counterclockwise motion [my pov], the edge of the blade seeking to hook the outside rim of your large steel edged shield and pull it out in front of you towards your sword as my right arm was thrusting forward in motion with the twisting motion of my body aiming to come around behind your shield and stab you in the left side -
clean .. should state distance though and make your opponent work from the same space.
good attacking move, but, should have stated a more specific target such as ribs, below the ribs, half way from shoulder to waist, anything like that. -1

says to - The Scarred - : I was not about to lose a tug O shield with a Man so much smaller that I and so I tried for the power as I pivot on th eball of My leading left foot, this I hope to bring My left shoulder back some and get level as You hook the side of My shield, I flex against Your force, as I try and keep Your axe head on the edge and just drop My shield slightly lower, I trust My shield is flush on to You once more and try and take the stab on the face on My shield
I am at this point hoping You are off blance with the twist and having My right blade up and being longer, seeing Your left axe is on the left side (my pov) of My shield I think I see Your left shoulder exposed and due a hacking and so I did, I pushed My right hand forward and down in a diagonal towards the floor in the hope of sending My blade chopping down at Your left shoulder...
Im having some trouble seeing this. A pivot on the ball of your left foot would suggest that you have moved your right foot either forward or back. Yet the rest of it seems to describe an upper body motion only, kind of twisting your torso. Now I could understand the power concept of resisting his attempt to pull your shield if you had it strapped to your arm, but only holding it in your fist ruins the leverage of that move. I dont see how the body movement by itself can prevent the shield from being pulled away from you. Your grip would provide the pivot he is using to do this. -1 and I see you taking a stab wound to the left side, the twist and his lack of stated target make it a more minor cut across the side but its gonna hurt.
clean, but this isnt a powerful blow, you all ready had the tip pointed towards his chest... not any higher, so this move doesnt have any time to build momentum

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: - and it would be especially as your shield hooked the head of the small handaxe in my opening stanza, it was worht a shot and your motion of the shield tugging on Me pulled Me to your left side just abit as I jerked my left held hand off of the edge of your shield in a counterclockwise motion to bring it back out towards my left, hence moving around your shield, up and around to come back down to my left side and hopefully catching the inside portion of your blade in the process and parrying it back off to my left, your right side before it could get to My shoulder -
- I then tried to use abit of a speed advantage and twisted my wrist that held the canhepi, being to the inside of your swordarm and swung it up and forward, working around the inside rim of your shield trying to bury the head of the axe up into your right upper pectoral and shoulder area-
this looks like something at the beginning is missing.
From the postion of both of you, I dont see this working. He's only moving his sword a few inches in a short chopping motion...what you are describing is a more roundabout move to attempt to parry it.. though from the postion of you both you would have to parry it with your arm at best and even then it would have been after the blow had already landed. -1 and a cut to the top of the shoulder, though not disabling as he could not have made a strong blow
I see what you are doing here, but the path could be better described...however I will go with it

says to - The Scarred - : oh very nice!! I blinked as Your axe went free and I pushed My shield forward and up to My right slightly but not enought o obscure My right blade as You had parried it off to My right a little, I hoped the pushing forward was enough to take the axe shaft below the head as You tried to use the rim of My own shield was simply push the head far enough back to miss My shoulder and also perhaps push Your left blade back and keep it snagged a little there
You had cut inside My right sword arm and parried Me off to the right before it came down, so I still see it as upward in direction and being on the outside of Your left axe, I tried to get speed and power in as I twist My right wrist down towards My left side, This having the action I hope of dropping My right blade down rather like a gilloteen (French thing for chopping heads off 'sorry' fucking dsylexia) at Your left forearm at the mid section, the size and weight of the drop I hope gives enough speed and power to cut Your arm off
This works as your shield is free and it has to move a much shorter distance than his hawk.
I see what you mean, though as with Marius, I would like to see the path of this better described. You are in close quarters here and using a 3 foot blade is problematic. The movement you describe is still only moving the blade a few inches up and back down. It wouldnt have the power you are describing and you would be hard pressed to get more than a few inches up from the hilt onto his forearm. It seems the rest of the blade is out in mid air or actually close to his head with that move.. might have been a better target with such a long sword and your hight advantage..

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: Thank you! - Indeed your shield would come up and across your body and that was the setup that I was going for, I now had two motions that I could go with, and I had a split second decision to make up for as I swiftly sidestepped back half a step and towards My right on a diagonal a lil ways so that I could clear myself of your shield as My left arm suddenly snapped up and out towards my left and back around in a circular motion as My wrist turned, it was still high, so that I could catch the oncoming blade of your sword and try and parry it out to my left side, your right harmlessly away from My body -
-this giving Me an opportunity I swiftly sidestepped again to the right as the shortsword that was held within my right hand swung on a horizontal strike, aiming from my right to left to come low and around the rim of your shield since you had previously moved it up and in front of you, aiming to hamstring you by slicing across the calf of your left leg -
he is making another short chopping motion for your forearm..your side step buys the time but If he had any room to raise that sword of his, I dont think you would be able to block it with a stick, er I mean canhepi...but this works sort of. I know what you meant, but without mention of your weapon, some woud deduct here as it sounds like you are using your left arm to parry the long sword.

says to - The Scarred - : it was nice and I liked it, rather a cheeky number if I did so and I could the first part of Your set up as You moved and parried My blade out, it still being up and perhaps that left arm was getting tired in a power block of a Torv, ....I pivot and drop to My to My left knee, to bring My left side back and around as I am turning I dropping the shield in the same motion to have the shield tucked in at My left side and take the blade, now a chop, on the front of My shiled
once more You had pushed My right held sword to My right but not very far, as I swung My right blade downwards, to try and circle the large blade down under Your left arm and the up on the inside of Your left arm, as I try and scoop the blade upwards to cleave into the outside of Your left thigh come hip area, hoping that left side is getting tired
clean .. but say how low you are dropping it .. all the way to the ground, to your ankles...what ever.
you are kneeling, you didnt need to move under his left arm, the kneel would have dropped the sword as well.
this is okay ..but again you are at a disadvantage given the size of the sword and how far you are moving it. What part of the blade do you see hitting his hip? and how high is your hand at the same time?

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: - and the striking motion rang off of Your shield with my right hand and that wasn't a very good thing though a hell of a defensive motion, you were getting pretty smooth, and I then pivoted upon the very ball of My right foot whipping my left side back and around as your sword dipped low then swung upwards aiming for the outside of My left hip so that the pointed edge of your sword would miss that side and swing upwards and in front of Me to hit nothing but air -
- I then stepped forward upon said foot bringing myself square with you once again so that I was stepping in towards the upraised arm of yours so we were close enough that your arm wouldn't be able to hack downwards and counter as the canhepi within my left hand was whipped from My left back towards my right in a tight circular motion with the edge of the blade, hoping to slice down along your forearm and end up with the edge of my blade crashing into the right side of your shoulder and neck area where it met the helm to end it -
okay.
nasty reaction to a kneeling man, but be careful, stating what he can or cannot do is close to a force post.

says to - The Scarred - : He had the advantage now of being low and getting better vison as I could see You wheel that axe, I did not hesitate and My sword is still on My right side as I missed and let the flow of the blade carry on as I sprung up from My left knee and bring the right blade back a little to catch the inside of Your axe before it comes fully down, right Torv arm Vs left Balck casts as I push up and hard to try and just shove Your axe out to Your left and be on the inside for once
Fully stood now and towering some above You, it did not take that much to chop My right held blade over to My left as I seep the blade from My right to left aimed for the left side of Your neck in a simple and basic cutting action and cleave Your head off if I am able
I dont see this defense working. He is describing coming down your extended forearm and inside your blade on a path to your neck.. Your description of extending up and then rising into the blow only aids this. As such I dont see how you can get your blade back down and inside his blow.
I think the fight is over at this point as you are taking a fatal or dibilitating blow to the right side of your neck.

- as I stepped undenearth your hopefully raised arm with a slight ducking motion of My head towards your right side, My left, that's right [ stay with me here ] and suddenly twisted my arm with a wicked snarl to bring the blade around in a swift counterclockwise motion back around in front of me to terminate in a backhand stroke that would send the edge of the blade screaming down across your hopefully exposed right side ribs, hip, and upper thigh area to end with the blade out to my lower right side -

says to - The Scarred - : I roared but could see You ducking to My right side and no way You was getting any of the action, I had got that one before and I pivot on the ball of My left foot to swing My right shoulder back and come around for You as I let My right blade carry on with the gaining speed of missing...the natural flow of the blade to come down as I pivot to let the blade sweep back up again out to My right as I hope to come up and under your right blade and push it over Your own body to Your left
The much smaller and lighter shield I used this time, I pulled the left arm up and forward, having not used it much I regained the power in that arm and tried to bring up on a diagonal to come level at the point of the strike, aimed to get the rim in the right side of Your neck with as much force as I could muster, even pushing off the ball of My left foot, the idea to snap Your neck with the force of the blow

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: - well the last one I would take, not sure but should be interesting to see if your sword on the pivot was fast enough to keep my sword parried across My body, but if that was the case, then indeed You'd have a right side flank to bash with your shield, however I could see the strike coming about all I could do was sorta hunch down and lean to My left and take the brunt of the blow with the edge and face of your shield onto My right shoulder which powered Me to stagger to my left a few paces and clearing the distance with a pained wince on My face before I finally caught My footing and came to face you once again, slowly rotating the shoulder to make sure that it wasn't broken, but damned if I didn't have a deadarm at the moment -
Marius the winner - landing a fatal blow.
good spar and well done, fairly easy to read and visualize.
Marius, I think my comments are all I need here. Good strategies but keep the distances you are working with in mind.
Joe, about the same, but the long sword is a lousy weapon if you let him get inside and stay there. Takes all the advantage from the blade.

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: - and the striking motion rang off of Your shield with my right hand and that wasn't a very good thing though a hell of a defensive motion, you were getting pretty smooth, and I then pivoted upon the very ball of My right foot whipping my left side back and around as your sword dipped low then swung upwards aiming for the outside of My left hip so that the pointed edge of your sword would miss that side and swing upwards and in front of Me to hit nothing but air -
- I then stepped forward upon said foot bringing myself square with you once again so that I was stepping in towards the upraised arm of yours so we were close enough that your arm wouldn't be able to hack downwards and counter as the canhepi within my left hand was whipped from My left back towards my right in a tight circular motion with the edge of the blade, hoping to slice down along your forearm and end up with the edge of my blade crashing into the right side of your shoulder and neck area where it met the helm to end it -
okay.
nasty reaction to a kneeling man, but be careful, stating what he can or cannot do is close to a force post.

says to - The Scarred - : He had the advantage now of being low and getting better vison as I could see You wheel that axe, I did not hesitate and My sword is still on My right side as I missed and let the flow of the blade carry on as I sprung up from My left knee and bring the right blade back a little to catch the inside of Your axe before it comes fully down, right Torv arm Vs left Balck casts as I push up and hard to try and just shove Your axe out to Your left and be on the inside for once
I think the fight is over at this point as you are taking a fatal or dibilitating blow to the right side of your neck.

says to Joe MacBain Companion of: Damn yer gettin good! - As your big ass bowled upwards, yeah, I couldn't withstand the power of your swordarm for awhile however I was wiry, trained to the extremes and a sneaky underhanded lil bastard, and your sword whipped the canhepi right outta My hand and went flying to my left as your big assed sword came cleaving downwards I swung the sword still within my right hand in a tight clockwise strike with a snarling rage of power up in front of Me which went across my body up and out to clash agaisnt your steel working on parrying it high and up over Us to save my neck -
- as I stepped undenearth your hopefully raised arm with a slight ducking motion of My head towards your right side, My left, that's right [ stay with me here ] and suddenly twisted my arm with a wicked snarl to bring the blade around in a swift counterclockwise motion back around in front of me to terminate in a backhand stroke that would send the edge of the blade screaming down across your hopefully exposed right side ribs, hip, and upper thigh area to end with the blade out to my lower right side -

says to - The Scarred - : I roared but could see You ducking to My right side and no way You was getting any of the action, I had got that one before and I pivot on the ball of My left foot to swing My right shoulder back and come around for You as I let My right blade carry on with the gaining speed of missing...the natural flow of the blade to come down as I pivot to let the blade sweep back up again out to My right as I hope to come up and under your right blade and push it over Your own body to Your left
