Joe
-I moved into the field at 7'2" and 340lbs of Torvaldian farmer, My left hand had the 36 inch round shield held in the strap and handle, pulled into My side as the left elbow was tucked back into My ribs putting the shield face to lead on as I took a left leading stance, the shield being some 6 inches from My body and the upper rim came to the level of My Y visor helm that was secured under by the chin strap..the left side of the shield (My pov) was out and covering from wrap shots as the right side of the shield to MY pov was to My center chest and the lower rim was over My mid left thigh...the shield was wood plate and bound with an iron rim, a steel center boss shone in the middle...My right hand picked up the longsword of 30 inch double sided blade and hand guard, held low and out to My right side so that the tip was back at 45 degrees downangle to My own right hip...My right foot back at shoulder width and the knees flexed slightly for balance, the toes of the right foot pointing away from Me as the left foot points forward, I note You at some 6 paces from Me as I nod for You to prepare for battle-
7-2, 340
36 inch round left arm
helm
30 inch long sword right hand
distance 6 paces
Captain Nereus
handling my shild in my left hand the leather straps laid over my forarm ad the sheild is hoisted to my chest...its made of wood has a metal center and is also ringed in steel...standing also at a left forward stance...my kneels unlock to prepare for the battle to come as i bounce my 6'8" 305 lbs frame...my double headed war axe gripped tightly in my right hand...as i peer through helmeted head...the talmut of sea sleen securely fastened....my eyes locked to Yours ready for battle
6-8, 305
helm
shield of unknown size, will go with 36 inches, left arm
doble headed axe right hand, no length or size specified, (just a note, it would help to specify weapon size and dimensions along with the position of your hand on the weapon where such placement is optional)
No change to distance
Round one
Joe
-The distance unchanged at 6 paces as I took note of Your stance and weapons of choice, I moved in slowly for 3 paces as I closed the gap and came in on Your right side, as I began to close in I picked up the pace in the last few bounds to mount a more surprise attack as I moved off to Yoru left in the last pace to come in at 1 pace from You, it was as I was taking the last pace in that I pump My left shield forward and was aimed at Your right war axe, unsure of the size, so I aim the upper part of My shield to get the boss on Your hand and let the rest run up the shaft of the axe to try and pin it to Your side as I
pushed off the left foot to try and move off to Your right with the shield pin and roll My hips to My left so that the left hip goes forward, keeping the right elbow in right as I swing the right held longsword from the low back to sweep forward as I aslo angle My left elbow out to try and keep the pressure on Your axe as i went past to Your right side, sweeping My right forearm over to My left in a hard strike now as I twist the right wrist in the last portion of the strike to aim the longsword edge for Your lead left shin and try and drag it across with Me as I move-
close to 3 feet but the wording is a bit confusing... you came at his right side, then moved to his left .. then move to his right?
how do you push off your left and go to his right and still maintain the shield contact. It seems this is an error and you meant pushed off your right foot and stepped with your left as that is the only way that move would work -1 as you drag his left shin.

Captain Nereus
suprise in my eyes as the largest man ever moves in quickly to strike.i move two paces back and another...my drunken stupor from the day before left me just a lil sl;ow as i moved the shield to my right side and then quickly back to the left....my axe pinned to my right shoulder as your sheild pushes to my front...only one pace between us as i let out a loud umphhhh!..as Your sword tugs at my leg dropping me to the ground....waiting as you retreat a couple paces before standing once again even more determined than anything
Alright, taking an undefended blow the the left shin and dropping... I will not end this here as the intent was to only drag the blade, but you have a good gash now on the left shin.
I will allow the standing, but stating your opponent had retreated is a force post inconsistent with his actions thus far. You cannot dictate such a move. -1

ROUND TWO
Joe
I had carried on past Your right side as You went down and was now behind You rather than backing off as I turn on the ball of My left foot to bring Me around and face You, having freed Your axe up in the passing, You had gone a few paces back and so I see Myslef looking at Your right side with My sword across My body low over My legs from the cut as I leap in that pace to close it to 1 pace again and thrust the left held shield out in a nasty pump at Your right shoulder to hold Your axe there once more but rather than move and swivel around this time I see You had an injured left leg and assumed You would be even slower as I target Your good right leg
My right blade already over to My left side so I brought up My right elbow and pushed out My right forearm, sweeping the low right long sword back to My right side to try and hack the mid section of the blade into the back of Your right knee and take Your legs from You in the process...I kept a steady pressure on My left shield and ensured My right leg was back and ready to move in the next action
I see you more to his right side and back a bit, but he never stated moving back. He dropped with the blow and then came back up. I would assume he would turn at least partially to face you, but to say he moved back is a forced post. -1
The reaction is clean

Captain Nereus
feeling the blade cut into my right leg as i had went down , watching in slow motion as you continue youir advance, when i stood, trying in a desperate attempt to regain a defensive stance, my mind oblivious to pain as the Torvaldslander calm takes hold...turning to the left as i push my sheild in the same direction as your blade had cut my knee slightly, the long sword scraping the sheild as i did so, pushing it out of the way...facing you as i swing my axe around, clanking the sheil as a low growl flows across my lips....eyes squinting as the animal begins to release itself
Taking the shot to the back of the knee would end the fight here. I dont see as you would be able to stand or continue in any meaningful way. This blow would do more than cut your knee slightly, it would end your ability to use it or put weight on it.
ROUND THREE
Joe
Thinking You hit My shield with Your axe? as I lean back slightly at the force and grunt taking the blow on the shield face and then rather than pushing Your axe back at You I turn My left forearm out to tilt the top and left side (MY pov) of the shield down to try and push Your axe down to the ground as I lower My left shield with Your axe
at the same time I brought up the pommel of My sword that had moved over the face of Your shield and with Your shield low had left Me in the perfect poistion to aim the pommel for Your chin by taking a step to My left and leaning My torso also to My left so that My right arm came up swiftky as I locked out the right elbow in a close line move but with a fist full of pommel swung at Your jaw to try and knock You out and end the match rather than drive the blade in Your chest, so I had twisted My right wrist over so My knuckles faced down as I slung My pommel up
Captain Nereus
knowing i was in a very bad position, i tried to regain my stance but my chin met the hilt of the sword as everything went bl;ack...finding myuself on my back peering through squinting eyes, looking up the sun bright and my jawline sore....as my legs flop out before you...my axe to my right and sheild to the left...i hear the sounds of clanking off in the distance....my lips turning to a grin i start to get up only to experience the pain in my right leg...whincing as i try to rise...i look to you....wanna help an old seamen up?
FINAL DEFENCE
Joe
-I made no defence and smiled- I make it a rule never to touch another Man's seamen -nods- is bad for the reputation -I laffed and gripped Your arm and pulled you up after I had put My weapons away- well fought, I am Joe MacBain, poor arse Farmer and dealer of 'lost' things
The winner is Joe by disabling blow
Interesting fight, My thanks for the opportunity to judge.

From the spar with Captain N
Thanks V, interesting veiw you have -smiles- I enjoyed reading it.
This was harder than most fights for me as I used to fighting Xander, Cicero and Co, so to go to this 'rougher' level made me think harder.
Just a few points and I am happy with the judgment as is, so no worries, just to clear things up so I see how you see things.
The pushing off the left foot to go to my left and keep the pressure on was supossed to be with the hip swivel. If You pin with your left arm and have an open stance, then push your hip to your left to move, you will find you are pushing also off the left foot to bring your right side around....perhaps I could have been clearer on that one, thanks.
The force post of mine:
In his post he does say 'suprise in my eyes as the largest man ever moves in quickly to strike.i move two paces back and another' so I assumed that was Him going back from His previos position and then later says 'at one pace' so He must have come forward -LOL-
As I say it was good to get a scrapy fight and try and work with it and nice to see another view.
Thanks again V
Joe

Joe, some good points, Im glad you posted this.
The way I usually read stuff, I would take the words of "pushing off of one foot to move..." as meaning taking a step with the opposite foot moving in the direction stated.
I saw what you were doing with your hip .. but it also looked like you wanted to move to his right at the same time. If I were trying to do the same move, I would say it something like .."pushing off my left foot to press my left hip in..." something that joined the hip movement with that push. Then it couldnt be taken as I did with it.
Another way to take any confusion from it would be "using my planted left foot to twist my left side in, pressing my hip...." something like that.
On the other, when he stepped back in response to your opening move, I took that as ocurring early and he accepted that you did close to the stated distance, otherwise he would not have taken the blow. But that does clear up my question as to where you were getting that. Thanks.
