Also: It was very common for women when cooking to use a sturdy apron of wool or leather when dealing with fires, as these materials would not burn so easily when a spark landed on her dress. The apron also protected their clothes, making them last longer, and being easier to clean. In the situation here, it seems like wool would be the common material anyway, but it's something to think about to add to your r/p
