I spent the early years of my childhood wandering around, I don't know if perhaps My parents were preparing for a journey and I was simply forgotten or what. So i made my own way in the world hiding in alleys and eating when I could find food. Many nights I would sneak aboard the ships that docked, sometimes findng food sometimes seeing things I didnt understand. One night the ship that I had snuck aboard cast off before I had a chance to make it back to land. I crawled above deck and snuck about the ship thining we had only just left land so I could swim back safely if I jumped overboard lest I be discovered by the captain.
When I hit the water and began swimming, I relaized we must have been at sea for days! I swam as far as I could and then a huge storm came up scaring me half to death. I was tired and wet and codla dn to top it off hungry. In the distance I saw a ship, If I called out, I might be killed, but then again to drown was not my want for dying. And so I began hollering at the top of my lungs, Someone on the ship must have heard Me and they lowered a rope, I gratefully held onto the rope as they hauled me abord the Talendar as I would later learn the ship was called.
The captain of the ship laughed as I was hauled aboard a wee 7yr old spitfire what He called Me. He held my hair and laughed , I couldnt understand why, until the Lady who owned the ship stepped ta look at me. She too had the ring of firelocks perhaps that was what made the man laugh so hard.
It was by Her graces that I was allowed ta stay aboard the ship, perhaps She felt a fondness for the waif of a child that I was, I dun know. But I grew ta love the Woman as a Mother, Her name was Sedim but ta me she was and is Mum. Time passed happily on the ship as we travelled around. I learned to spit, drink and gamble like the men of the ship outgambling most of them with the exception of Mum.
Years passed and I grew restless , I think Mum knew , I was given more space and some time alone on the ship. One night after winning all the Captains gold, I had some of the coins made into the bracelet that Mum wears to this day.
One restless night I packed all my things into a small satchel and cleaned out Mums spare chest of coins not stealing them merely borrowing Until I would see Her again, and I jumped off the ship into the water and swam for land.
I never stayed in one place long, never feeling the urge to put down roots, I was in my early twenties, not Mated no children, i saw no need to stay anywhere long. There was a lot of the world and I wanted to see it all from the Jungles of Schendi to the Tahari I journeyed. Home was where I was. Then one day after I had turned 24, I heard rumors that Mum had mated among the wagon people. I travelled to where I thought I would find her only to learn that She and Her Mate had moved on northward.
Finally one day I made it to the shores of Hulneth. I found Mum and Pops and oh SOOO Many Members of Her family, But I have grown to love each and every one of them.
